Ashchurch and Balvac
Urgent upgrading and bridge parapet repairs were required to the north of Holmes Bridge in Derby. The bridge is located on the Main A52 dual carriageway and carries the busy Derby inner ring road over the River Derwent within the city centre.
Engineers were faced with the challenge of providing a safe form of access to the outside of the bridge parapet to allow hydro demolition work and reinforced concrete reinstatement leading to the replacement of a new steel restraint system to protect persons using the bridge.
The specialist access scaffold needed to be rigid enough to support the formwork for the new concrete works whilst providing a safe temporary access for engineers to work some 40 feet over the river below.
Ashchurch were chosen to carry out the works in consideration of their approach to health and safety , not to mention the logical methods in which we approached the scheme..
